Commission disputes between realtors, brokers and brokerages

I invite brokers to consider mediation as an intermediate process to settle real estate disputes. Based on my experience, the right time to mediate is after communication and negotiation breaks down between disputing brokers/brokerages and before going to the Arbitration Committee for a binding decision.

A mediator will mediate or assist real estate brokers to negotiate their own settlement. The alternative is someone else, a judge or arbitrator, will make a binding decision for them. If the brokers belong to a real estate board, a panel of arbitrators will decide the outcome. If they do not belong to a real estate board, they can either agree on an arbitrator or go to court to settle their dispute.
